Our School Uniform
Uniform Policy
At Lindhead School, our uniform is designed to be simple, affordable, practical and inclusive. The basic school colours are green and yellow, and families do not need to buy branded items. A sweatshirt or cardigan with the school logo is available, but a plain green jumper, sweatshirt or cardigan is also acceptable.
Our aim is for children to look smart, feel part of the Lindhead community, and be ready for a busy school day.
Everyday School Uniform
Children should wear:
Green jumper, sweatshirt or cardigan
A school logo jumper or cardigan is available, but this is optional. Plain green jumpers, sweatshirts or cardigans are acceptable.
Yellow polo shirt
This does not need to have a school logo.
Grey or black trousers, shorts, skirt or pinafore
Summer dresses
Children may wear school summer dresses in either yellow or green.
Shoes
Safe and sturdy shoes are advised, preferably black.
Coats and bags
Children should bring a suitable coat for the weather. Reading book bags are provided when children start school, and replacements can be purchased if needed. We ask that any other bags brought into school are reasonably small, as cloakroom space is limited.
Labelling Clothing
Please make sure that all clothing and footwear is clearly named, especially jumpers and cardigans. Children often take jumpers off during the school day, particularly in warmer weather, and named items are much easier to return.
We recommend using name labels or a permanent marker. The school website currently signposts families to Stikins labels, but any clear labelling system is fine.
P.E. Kit and Active Uniform
Governors have agreed to continue with our active uniform approach.
For children in Years 1 to 6, PE bags are not needed. On PE days, children should wear:
-
their usual yellow polo shirt
-
their green jumper, sweatshirt or cardigan
-
black, unbranded joggers, tracksuit bottoms, shorts or leggings
-
trainers
For children in Reception, we ask for a PE bag containing:
-
a plain, unbranded white T-shirt
-
black shorts
-
trainers
Swimming information is shared with families before swimming lessons begin.
Jewellery
For safety reasons, children should not wear jewellery in school. The only exception is one pair of small, plain stud earrings.
Children wearing earrings must be able to remove them independently for P.E. and swimming lessons. Earrings must be removed for these activities and should not be taped over, as taping does not remove the potential risk of injury.
Children may not be able to take part in P.E. or swimming if earrings cannot be removed safely.
Parents and carers should consider this carefully when arranging ear piercing, particularly during term time.
Branded and Non-Branded Uniform
There is no requirement to buy uniform with the school logo. We want our uniform to remain affordable and accessible for families.
Branded jumpers and cardigans are available from our local supplier, but plain green alternatives are acceptable. Families are free to purchase suitable non-branded items from supermarkets, high-street shops, online retailers or second-hand sources.
Our current local supplier is:

Second-Hand Uniform
The Friends of Lindhead School regularly make second-hand uniform available at school events, fairs, assemblies, celebrations and parent consultation evenings.
Families can also use the Friends of Lindhead School Facebook page to ask about second-hand uniform or to share lost-property requests.
Support With Uniform
We understand that uniform can sometimes become costly, especially when children grow quickly or items go missing.
If any family needs support with uniform, please contact school quietly. We will always take a mindful and considerate approach, and we may be able to help with items from our school uniform stock or through second-hand uniform.
Uniform should not be a barrier to attendance, participation or belonging.
Equality and Inclusion
Our uniform policy is designed to be inclusive and to avoid discrimination. We do not list uniform items by gender, and pupils may wear the uniform items they feel most comfortable in.
Families should contact the Headteacher if they would like to discuss any reasonable adjustments linked to equality, religion, culture, disability, medical needs, sensory needs or cost. The policy below has been slightly amended since the last version, and will be discussed at the Governors meeting on 1st July.
