About Lindhead School
Lindhead School is a primary school for children aged 4 to 11, situated in the village of Burniston, north of Scarborough. We serve families from Burniston, Cloughton, Scarborough and the surrounding villages.
We want children to feel safe, happy and ready to learn. Our work is shaped by our school values of learning, caring and growing together, and by our aim to help children develop the knowledge, confidence and personal qualities they need for the next stage of their education.

Our School and Community
Lindhead opened in 1974, replacing a number of smaller village schools. Since then, the school has continued to develop while keeping a strong connection with its local community.
We value the close relationship between home, school and the wider community. Parents and carers are an important part of school life, and we want families to feel informed, involved and welcome.
Learning and Personal Development
Our teaching and support staff work together to meet children’s academic, social and emotional needs. We aim to provide clear, engaging teaching and appropriate support so that pupils can build on what they know, develop confidence and make progress over time.
Personal development is an important part of school life at Lindhead. We encourage children to be active learners, kind friends, responsible members of the school community and confident individuals.
Our Grounds
Lindhead benefits from spacious outdoor areas which are used for play, learning and wider school life.
These include:
- a dedicated outdoor area for our youngest children;
- a large playground with countryside views;
- a school field for games and seasonal sports;
- adventure play equipment;
- quiet areas and dens for friendship and imaginative play;
- Millennium Wood, with a raised walkway, hides and wildlife areas;
These spaces help children learn, play, explore and spend time together as part of the school day.
Working With Families
We believe that children do best when school and home work closely together. We aim to keep parents and carers informed about school life, their child’s learning and the support available.
Families are welcome to contact school if they have questions, concerns or information that may help us support their child.
Visiting Our School
We are pleased to welcome families who are considering Lindhead School for their child. A visit is a helpful way to see the school, meet staff and pupils, and find out more about school life.
Please contact the school office if you would like to arrange a visit.
